My new B7800 is being delivered next week (05/07). I have a question on engine break in. I know the manual says not to run it at “full speed” for the first 50 hours. I am not quite sure what that means. The mark for the PTO speed is pretty close to the top of the tachometer. Does that mean running it at “almost” full speed is OK?

I always thought that Kubota's wording was pretty nebulous. You shouldn't lug it down either as that can hurt it more.
Then... when you consider that most of the engines they make are rated to run at 3600 RPM but are governed lower on tractors, it gets even more confusing.
At least on the tractors you can set the throttle, it is impossible to comply with this directive while driving the RTV, due to the throttle/HST interlocking linkage.
And while I am on this rant.... they don't even put a tachometer on the BX or RTV.... so how the hell would you know?
I have had two Kubota's and two Deere's. All had similar sized engines. Deere has no such restrictions on RPM during break-in.

Ask your dealer about it, they want you to be a happy return customer. I agree lugging a new engine would be more harmfull than higher RPM's. Frank. ....

I recommend breaking an engine in in the way it is to be used as long as it is not abused. Vary the throttle some and try running about 2/3rds throttle to 3/4's for mowing. ....
